September 2025 – Camco executed a high-impact directional drilling project for Waha Oil Company (WOC), delivering exceptional results from the Defa Reservoir.
The operation combined directional drilling, measurement-while-drilling (MWD), logging-while-drilling (LWD), and advanced geo-steering services. The objective was to drain the Defa Reservoir through a horizontal wellbore and to land and maintain the trajectory between 20 and 30 feet true vertical depth (TVD) below the reservoir top.
To achieve this, Camco deployed Baker Hughes technologies, including the Rotary Steerable System (RSS) AutoTrak for precise drilling and directional control, VisiTrak-UHD for real-time reservoir mapping and well placement, and LithoTrak for advanced formation evaluation.
The project achieved 100 percent reservoir contact across a 1,697-foot measured depth lateral section. The wellbore was maintained between 20 and 35 feet TVD below the reservoir top, with no bottom water saturation detected throughout the lateral. Initial production reached 4,100 barrels of oil per day with zero water cut, a significant result for this type of reservoir case.
This outcome reflects the integration of advanced Baker Hughes technology with Camco’s operational excellence and the close collaboration with WOC. The success of Defa Reservoir reinforces Camco’s ability to deliver tailored solutions that optimize production and extend the life of critical assets in Libya’s oil and gas sector.
