Tripoli, Libya – March 2025 – Edgo’s group companies, Camco and ESP Ltd, in close collaboration with technology partner Baker Hughes (BH), have successfully completed the horizontal drilling and well-testing of Well J5H-NC101 at the Methkandoush Field, located in Libya’s Murzuq Basin, for Sirte Oil Company (SOC).
This achievement marks a key milestone in supporting SOC’s 2025 strategy to increase oil production, unlock additional reserves, and contribute meaningfully to Libya’s national energy goals.
The project focused on a 700-foot horizontal section, designed to maximize reservoir contact by aligning the well trajectory with critically stressed natural fractures. This approach significantly enhanced permeability and production efficiency, setting a new benchmark for reservoir performance in the region.
Camco spearheaded horizontal drilling operations, leveraging a comprehensive geomechanical model developed in partnership with BH. This study enabled precise identification of naturally open fracture zones, allowing the well to be placed within high-permeability formations while avoiding sealed or low-quality intervals.
ESP Ltd led the well-testing and production optimization phase, deploying Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) technology to deliver outstanding initial results. The well produced 5,400 barrels per day (bpd) using the ESP system, in addition to 6,000 bpd under natural flow at a wellhead pressure of 110 psi. These results underscore the strength of the reservoir, and the success of the integrated, data-driven approach applied by Camco, ESP, and BH.
As a result, Methkandoush Field’s total production has now reached 10,000 bpd, representing a significant boost to SOC’s output and reaffirming Libya’s upstream development potential.
Camco and ESP extend their appreciation to SOC and the National Oil Corporation (NOC) for their continued trust and partnership. This project stands as a testament to the technical excellence, operational synergy, and forward-looking strategy of Edgo’s group companies and their partners, paving the way for sustainable energy progress in Libya.
